Support for Men and Boys Who Experience Sexual Violence

KSAAS recognises that the impacts of sexual violence are no less devastating for men and boys than for women and girls. We believe all survivors of sexual violence deserve specialist support.

Sexual violence can affect anyone, regardless of gender. This resource offers vital support and understanding for men and boys who have experienced rape or sexual assault.

Our service affirms:

•  Your feelings are valid: Emotions like fear, shame, anger, and confusion are natural responses to trauma.

You are not alone: Many survivors share similar experiences, and support is available.

Masculinity myths are harmful: Strength includes vulnerability, and seeking help is courageous.

Anger needs expression: Suppressed rage can turn inward talking, writing, or joining support groups can help.

Sexual violence does not define sexuality: Abuse is about power, not desire or orientation.

Women can be perpetrators: Abuse can be committed by any gender, and all survivors deserve support.

Shame belongs to the abuser: Survivors are never at fault.

Trauma affects memory and emotions: Denial or memory loss is a common coping mechanism.

Self-care is essential: Healing takes time, and prioritising your wellbeing is a vital part of recovery
